Strata Tip 62 – Initial Defects – Work out the costs to rectify

Having obtained your defects inspection report, ensure that you get a rectification scope of works from your defects inspector.  That scope should then be used to obtain at least three quotes.  Those quotes quantify the body corporate’s (and the owner’s) potential loss arising from the defects.  That dollar figure should help motivate the developer, or its’ builder, to get in and fix the defects before you sue.
